I'd love to be there too - & I'm still further away than Doug (I think);
I've been looking at your website, some of your own poems are almost
plain , often close to the knuckle. They certainly hit hard. I was moved
by parts of the Saadi translation there - if I may quote an excerpt for
everyone else here who can't make it, lines that embody a tremendous
humility:
And You who transcend all we can imagine,
whose existence we can neither guess at
nor claim to know as fact, of whose glory
all the world’s words—spoken or written—fall
immeasurably short, the end is here,
and we stand as we did when it all began,
tongue-tied lovers, awe-struck at Your beauty.
I'm grateful for those lovely lines. Best wishes for the promotion.
