Folks, you might like to know that the winner of this year's James Tait
Black Memorial Prize for biography is Jonathan Bate's John Clare: A
Biography.
From what I heard of it at the award ceremony, it is exceptionally good.
(Had to be, to beat my pick...) And a very interesting set of connections,
not only with Burns and Hogg in Scotland, but in different ways with Emily
Dickenson, and with the old Japanese & Chinese masters.
