I don't seem to outgrow those early loves. But I think I would be in serious
trouble if I read poetry simply for the pleasures of its philosophy. It
would cut out a lot of my favourite poets.
Not that poets are incapable of thought, mind; I'm not saying that - and I
think the most interesting poetry is always intelligent. But its delights
are multifarious...and often to do with the "debacle of the intellect" -
