Oh yes. A marker text for me, although I don't own it, alas, just bits I
copied into a notebook.
I confess I have only been lightly following this discussion as I'm a bit
preoccupied at the moment. I don't find it such an odd idea that passionate
erotic love can be thought about as a kind of mental illness. I'm not sure
that would change anything about the subjective experience of it. I do
worry slightly at the pathologising of human experience, though: how long
before there are pills so one doesn't suffer its torments? Or have witches
brewed potions to deal with this stuff? (Love potions certainly - unlove
potions?)
