PERFORMATIVITY | PLACE | SPACE

The University of Bristol supports the cross-disciplinary theme
Performativity, Place, Space, led by Professor Martin White, Professor of
Theatre and Provost of the Institute for Advanced Studies. He is joined by
two RCUK Academic Fellows: Dr Angela Piccini (based in Drama: Theatre,
Film, Television) and Dr Jo Carruthers (based in Theology and Religious
Studies and English).

Building on last year's successful seminar series, including participation
by Benjamin Meaker visiting scholars Tracy Davis (Northwestern University)
and Michael Shanks (Stanford University), we have invited speakers this
year to consider aspects of place and space via travel, transitions,
mappings, representation, mobility. You are warmly invited to attend these
free events.

All seminars begin at 5.15pm in the Verdon-Smith Room, Institute for
Advanced Studies, Royal Fort House, University of Bristol. A symposium is
currently being scheduled for May 2006.

Please contact Jo Carruthers ([log in to unmask]) or Angela
Piccini ([log in to unmask]) to confirm attendance.
