The North East Irish Cultural Network is an academic association, based at
the Universities of Sunderland and Durham. It seeks to promote and
encourage the study and teaching of all aspects of the society, culture and
literature of the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the Irish
Diaspora. It will also organise seminars, symposia, and conferences for
scholars, Ph.D. students, teachers, and other interested parties. The
network will encourage discussion among members on topics of Irish
interest, and promote and enhance the interest in Irish studies within the
north of England and beyond. It will eventually be developed as an
electronic network, including a newsletter and resources, accessible via
the websites of both institutions with membership open to scholars,
teachers, and other interested individuals from all parts of the world.
Membership: Membership is open to scholars who have registered with the
association. Registration entitles members full participation including the
presenting of papers at events held under the auspices of NEICN. Members
will also be invited to contribute papers to annual NEICN publications, and
will be kept informed of future activities through the NEICN newsletter.
