Dear Dr. Courtman,
The most exciting and challenging new writings in English today are coming
from the countries around the world which have gained their independence in
the course of the 20th century: nations in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean,
but also from Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The "Postcolonial Spring School 2005", a conference taking place in Berlin,
offers students and experts a platform for exchange on this challenging new
field.
The Postcolonial Spring School continues the successful tradition of a
series of conferences taking place under the auspices of ASNEL (Association
for the Study of the New Literatures in English). From April 4-8, 2005,
students and academics from all over the world will come together at the
Free University Berlin and enjoy a week of lectures, debates, workshops and
seminars. In the evenings, the conference will continue with a film night,
performances, readings and an art exhibition.
As student organizers of the conference, we would like to ask you a favour.
We would be most grateful if you could help us to spread the word about this
non-commercial student conference. Since you are the website editor of the
Society for Caribbean Studies, it would be great if you could publish a
short announcement of our conference on your website. We would suggest an
announcement like the following:
Student Conference on the New Literatures in English in Berlin: Calling for
Participants
From April 4-8, the Postcolonial Spring School 2005 invites students and
scholars to Berlin for a week of workshops, lectures and events on
multicultural literatures in English from Australia, Africa, Canada, and
India. For more info and application see www.pss2005.com.
Thank you very much for your support. We will be glad to provide you with
more information on the
Postcolonial Spring School. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to
get back to us.
Many thanks in advance and best wishes,
Margot Kaiser
