This is an announcement that information and online booking for a workshop
on "Initiatives & Innovation: Managing Disruptive Technologies" is now
available.
The workshop will explore the issues involved in managing potentially
disruptive technologies including initiatives driven by JISC such as
E-Framework and use of an SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) approach to
development work and provision and support of Internet technologies such as
Blogs, Wikis, Skype, etc. The will work towards a framework that can be used
to balance the demands for innovation and constant development with the need
for stability and security.
The workshop will include an opening talk on "Challenges for Institutions in
Adapting to the Global Information Infrastructure" by Oleg Liber, University
of Bolton/CETIS, case studies of the approaches taken at the Universities of
Hull and Warwick to managing disruptive technologies and a talk by Brian
Kelly on "Managing The Unexpected: Facing Internet Challenges".
The workshop will include discussion group sessions which will provide an
opportunity for participants to reflect on the issues raised in the talks
and to discuss ways of addressing the challenges of managing such
technologies within their own institutions.
This workshop will be held at Scarman House, University of Warwick on Friday
