Hi,
I stronly recommend a dual Opteron box with following configurations:
(1) A SATA HD for opterating system;
(2) A small but fast SCSI HD (~20-40G) for data processing;
(3) A RAID5 for storage;
(4) 4G memory;
(5) 64bit Linux (aka. amd64);
(6) 64bit Matlab.
p.s. You might run into some minor problems with 64bit Matlab, but
overall it runs smoothly.
Best,
Xiong Jiang
