Your data may be in one of the various Mosaic formats that are produced by
different Siemens scanners. SPM is unable to deal with all of the formats -
as there is very little documentation avaliable on them.
There are various other tools that may work though. In particular, you may
want to try the LONI Debabbler or one of the other tools listed at
http://idoimaging.com/cgi-bin/imaging/search.pl?search=DICOM
