Dear Colleague,
There are still a few places left on this popular Netskills workshop running at Strathclyde University next week.
Information Skills: Is Google Enough?
Wednesday 26th October
Google is the first place most people go to find information on the web - for some, it's the only place. With so much information out there, and so many search sites to choose from, it's easy not to go beyond Google, especially as it often does its job well.
But just how helpful is it to get several million hits? And how do you know if the sites Google finds are of good quality? Also, Google doesn't - and can't - search everything, so it is vital to be aware of other sources.
This workshop will give you a greater understanding of how Google works and equip you to search it, and other sites, more effectively. The workshop also provides you with the opportunity to explore what else is out there, learn about new developments in searching and think about how to evaluate web sites for quality.
