The Office of Science and Technology is supporting a bursary scheme for this year's science communication conference.
The bursaries are designed to attract a wider range of delegates to the conference and are available to the following target audiences:
science communication students
freelancers/microbusiness (less than 10 employees)
campaigning groups
representatives from BME outreach groups
representatives from community development organisations
Bursary recipients will have their conference fees paid and will be eligible for a contribution of £250 per person to assist with travel and accommodation expenses.
Five bursaries will be awarded in each category. Additional bursaries may be awarded depending on the level of interest within each target group. This year bursaries will be awarded judged on how applicants intend to disseminate information from the conference to others in their field, not on a first come first served basis.
Online applications for the bursaries will open on 1 April and close at 17.00 on the 25 April.
Successful applicants will be notified by 29 April.
Those awarded bursaries to attend the conference last year are eligible to apply this year; however priority will be given to those who have not received a bursary before.
