In my day English For Techies was part of "Liberal Studies". I was
studying Navigation for my 3rd Mates exam it's probably no surprise
that English was rostered alongside STD-awareness lessons. Given this,

seems they were probably teaching the wrong people!
The standard of English I was taught then wouldn't strain anyone on
this list. Anyone with the ability to put together a coherent
sentence, let alone use their imagination or know words of more than 3
syllables, was regarded as slightly freakish.
