I come back to find great activity. I have been a bit manic/paranoiac the
past day or two but I get my shot of flupenthixol on Friday when everything
will be ok.
But first I only have one spare room and the cat has claimed it to sleep on
the bed. The cat would never forgive me if I took action. But I am running
out of places to deposit cardboard boxes and am also getting worried about
the ceiling falling down cos of the weight. Donald Dewar had to have special
supports installed in his house for similar reasons.
And sorry about Catherine's suitcase but glad she enjoyed the book. A
satisfied customer.
And congratulations to Robin on the new tome. Are you putting a fotie of
Glesca on the cover?
And I have a dreadful memory so I cant add much to Robin on the Logue Iliad.
There are now five books (the first three collected in War Music) and they
are brilliant 'versions' the likes of which you have never seen in your life
before. Christopher Logue was in Paris with the Surrealists around the late
40s and it shows. His Iliad is much the best thing he has done (like Peter
Russell's Quintilius) and he has been encouraged all along the way the past
forty years. Surely Logue is published in the US.
And I dont think I will get to the numinous till Wednesday. I have a PN
Review to read and for a change it looks interesting but heavy going.
And I heard Helena Kennedy (she must be from Glasgow) talk on Saturday night
and there she was on the Channel 4 news tonight gunning down Blair in the
Lords today along with Derry Irvine. I have had many friends from Fettes and
their abiding quality was that they could drink.
They must have given Tony a hard time there.
And thanks again to Catherine. Tis rare to hear somebody actually read the
book. Cheers.
