A parcel of books arrived from Amazon this afternoon and pride of place went
to Christopher Logue's fifth and penultimate book giving his version of the
Iliad. I have read it twice now and think it distinctly superior to the
previous book. Magical was my reaction at the way there is not a false note
in it. He was in bad health when he read in Bath two years ago so it is good
to see that he will be completing the lifetime project. He must be near 80
now. I will read it again several times.
Next book on the list is Rudolf Otto's 1923 classic The Idea of the Holy. No
more poetry but there is a new Stewart Conn out.
