I was quite surprised. Who was the last dramatist to win? I don't know
that Pinter is the greatest dramatist of the last 50 years, but he's
close enough, I believe he's had an influence on dramatic writing, and
his politics?...I don't know much about how the Nobel Committee factors
politics into its choice.
Moving on to rumors...it's said that the Library of America's project to
"marbelize" Philip Roth via those uniform volumes is an effort to
advance him from the rumored short list to the Prize itself. I would
not cry if he won.
