No guidelines, but when I worked as podiatrist we had on going issues about
our general advice about the use of surgical spirit between toes daily to
reduce maceration (skin sogginess with risk of infections). Non-acceptance
of this by a section of the local Mirpuri Pakistani community led to my
investigating, in association with the hospital pharmacy, whether another
bland and easily available chemical (other than an alcohol compound) would
have the same effect on drawing moisture from the skin. In essence no, as
this is apparently a fundamental property of the OH molecule in alcohol
compounds and ketones etc apparently just don't do that. Never found a
solution to this as I was seconded from podiatry at that point to look at
wider service access for BME communities and the rest, as they say, is
history. Yes, I really did used to spend 37 hours a week dealing with
toenails, corns and verrucae. Hard to believe isn't it?
I know your query is coming from a cultural/religious standpoint, but there
may be some work from an allergy standpoint given the number of vaccines
grown on albumin based cultures and the number of egg allergies around.
Another area which must have addressed this is Diabetes, as although more
synthetic insulin is used these days, pig insulin was very common even 10
years ago and in the hospital I was in, they were very careful not to
prescribe this where there were religious issues. Try the British Diabetic
Association.

Subject: Animal Products in Medicines - Information for patients
Dear all,
Is anyone aware of a policy, or guidelines regarding information given to
patients about the presence of animal products in medicines (e.g. Heparin,
MMR, etc). Moreoever, in circumstances where such information is made
available, are alternatives offered, and has this affected procurement,
prescribing etc?
We are currently reviewing this issue, and would appreciate any comments /
suggestions / policies / examples of good practice etc.
Many thanks,
Karl
