I wanted to avoid the value debate as it relates to individual women in labour.
However, I still think there's something to be said concerning the culture of a unit where most women end up with opiate analgesia or an epidural, and sometimes both. Without digging deeper I'm aware that I couldn't reach firm conclusions about any unit, but I just wondered if there was some way of categorising the amount or type of analgesia used in a unit.

Hi Andrew,
you want to avoid a value debate but want to use analgesia as an outcome
measure to be able to "make certain assumptions" about a unit.
I don't know how you can do one without the other. Or have I misunderstood
something?
BW,
Linda.
