Hi Heather
There are a number of examples of domestic violence training for midwives
in the UK which have been evaluated and published (work by Sally Price,
Kathleen Baird, Debra Salmon who set up an initiative in Bristol and also
the Leeds Inter-Agency Project - Steen & Bharj). We have also evaluated DV
training and impact on practice where I work and am happy to discuss more
if you want to contact me off the list. I think one area which needs to be
explored is the issue of longevity and how to sustain changes in
practice. I also think there is increasing recognition in the literature
that it takes time to change deeply ingrained attitudes about domestic
violence, a one-off training session may not do it unless there are
opportunities to practice and develop skills and knowledge.
With Best Wishes
