Sorry for cross postings.
I thought that this scam had been stamped on about three or four years ago
when UkeiG last reported it to the DPA.
However, I have just received an entirely fake notice. It looks official
and has nice scales of justice at the top of the page (but not the DPA
logo) and is headed:
Data Protection Agency
Registration Enforcement
Notification under the Data Protection Act 1998
Final Notice
It has a reference number and speaks of previous correspondence I have
ignored, gives me 7 days to respond, and warns me that I could end up with
a £5000 fine - "Failure to register is a criminal offence"
I am registered and my renewal is not due, so it rang warning bells!
I shall not be sending £135 as requested to the registered office given
and I shall be reporting this to the office of the Data Protection Agency.
