Hi,
A wonderful start to 2006! I thought several members of this list might be
interested in the following news as I am not sure that it has been widely
circulated.
I recently discovered that the American Meteorological Society will make
access to their pre-2001 journals online content freely available from 2006
(see: http://www.ametsoc.org/pubs/subscribe/subsinst.html). Access to this
content will be through the main AMS Journals Online site at:
http://ams.allenpress.com/. I also understand that the intention is that the
content of all their journals older than 5 years will be freely available,
so in 2007 it will be pre-2002 content i.e. a forward moving wall.
The list of journals involved can be found at:
http://ams.allenpress.com/amsonline/?request=get-archive
I would like to thank the AMS for making this wonderful archive of key
atmospheric and meteorological journals available free of charge to
everyone. I am sure many users around the world will now benefit from having
access to high quality journal material that up to now has been restricted
to a few.
The only thing that I would question is why the AMS don't offer institutions
the option to subscribe to all their current journal content in a special
"bundle" as do some other societies e.g. American Society for Microbiology.
Cheers
Lesley
