Subject: Re: Library access for patients
Dear Val
We have a clause in our SLA with Trust libraries which just says:
"Patients and their representatives are permitted to use the library for
information relating to health and social care. This will be at the
discretion of the Library Services Manager to ensure that security and
confidentiality are not compromised"
The phrasing of the clause was developed with the LSMs who have had, or
fear, problems of access to networks etc.
We are also planning to hold a study day about appropriate ways to help
patients and their carers who come to the libraries.
Given that few of our resources will be at an appropriate level for most
people, and that access to our IT networks excludes them, this will
probably consist of staff searches of suitable web sites and referral to
other appropriate agencies.
Regards
Tina
