Dear Colleague,
Further to your recent PPI meeting with Flora Goldhill, I write to provide
you with additional information on the Patient Information Bank testing. I
would be most grateful if you could cascade this to your colleagues. The
attached paper gives some background and detail on this development.
Test Sites
NHS Direct New Media would like to recruit Acute Trusts to take part in
testing the Patient Information Bank and evaluation with patients and staff.
The primary focus of the testing will be with the 22 elective operations and
tests leaflets. Trusts looking to build resources to meet the revised CNST
Information and Consent standards, would be ideal to take part.
A questionnaire will be available to complete online for any member of staff
taking part in the testing, these can also be printed and filled in
manually. A printed patient questionnaire will be provided to Test Sites
with freepost envelopes to hand out to patients receiving the leaflets
printed from the Patient Information Bank.
Once all questionnaires have been returned and the results analysed, we will
invite a selection of Trusts to each nominate Two members of staff to take
part in telephone interviews with our Research Manager, Shirley Large.
Patients will also have the option to take part in telephone interviews if
they wish. An evaluation report will be sent to all Trusts taking part in
the testing. I have tried to keep Trust staff time commitment to a minimum
to ensure that testing can go ahead without disruption to busy departments.
Trusts that are interested should contact me directly to discuss local
arrangements for testing the Patient Information Bank.
