Subject: Quality Task Group: survey of quality practice for completion by
Monday 7th March 2005 (OPPORTUNITY TO BE ENTERED INTO A PRIZE DRAW!)
**IMPORTANT: PLEASE OPEN ATTACHMENT TO VIEW AND COMPLETE THE QUESTIONNAIRE**
Dear Colleagues,
The Quality Task Group are looking at quality issues in NHS library services
to adopt a quality standard as part of the Jericho project. The group
recognise that quality needs to build on the evidence that all libraries put
in to Helicon accreditation and that examples of good practice that have
been evidenced in individual libraries could be shared across the north
west, therefore it will:
* Provide detail of the wider quality initiatives that NHS libraries
can and need to feed into including
* NHS - "Better Standards for Health", IWL practice plus
* HE - QAA audits and reviews of academic institutions
* Public libraries - standards of quality in "Framework for the
Future"
* Establish a collection of toolkits and good practice that can be
used by library managers on a similar idea to 'Helping Hands'. These
may(or may not) have already been circulated via LIHNN or LIS-medical or
other lists.
* Investigate benchmarking, with the recognition that different kinds
of Trusts and libraries provide different sorts of services
To help the Quality Task Group identify existing quality practice, please
open attachment to view and complete the questionnaire (if you encounter any
difficulties completing the questionnaire please let me know asap by email).
Thank you in advance for your co-operation, we look forward to receiving
your completed questionnaire very shortly,
On behalf of the Quality Task Group,
Lisa
