This is the first announcement of details for this year’s British
Geophysical Association (BGA)Work in Progress Conference for Post-Graduate
Research. It is being co-sponsored by the Geoscience Committee of the
Royal Irish Academy and we anticipate that post-graduate students from
both countries will attend. The conference is being held in Galway,
Ireland, starting with a social evening on Wednesday, 31st August and
followed by presentations on the 1st and 2nd September. Professor Roger
Buck from Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory has agreed to be a guest
speaker. There will be a conference dinner on the evening of September 1st
and the possibility of a day-out/field-trip in Connemara on Saturday, 3rd
September.
The conference is being organised by Eve Daly and Colin Brown from the
Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences, NUI, Galway, Ireland. We have
booked some provisional accommodation (4-5 person student apartments, some
en-suite)on campus for about 70 people. We are setting up a web-link on
the EOS home page (www.nuigalway.ie/eos) with information on registration,
