CALL FOR SUBMISSION OF SPECIAL SESSION PROPOSALS (due 28 November 2005)
Volcanology, Geochemistry, & Petrology (VGP) Section
The Western Pacific Geophysics Meeting will be held in Beijing, China,
24-27 July 2006. The VGP section is seeking proposals for special sessions
from geochemists, volcanologists, petrologists, mineral physicists and
related fields. The special session proposals can be either for VGP
section, or for Union section if the topic is deemed to be appropriate.
Special session proposals are now being accepted at
http://www.agu.org/meetings/wp06. While at the web page, click the button
"Programs and Abstracts". Instructions for submitting special session
proposals can be found in that page (and below). In the pull-down menu,
select either "Union" or "Volcanology, Geochemistry, and Petrology". Then
click "Go".
Special session submission will close on 28 November 2005. Please feel
free to contact one of us with questions related to special session
proposals.

Instructions for submitting special session proposals:
1. Submit your session proposal to only one discipline. If the session
topic falls under more than one discipline, submit your proposal to the
primary discipline and identify the others as potential session
cosponsors. 2. Submit a session title and description. AGU standard is
uppercase/lowercase, for example: Titles Should Be Capitalized. The
session description provided in the proposal will be used to
promote/advertise the session on the AGU Web site (the description may
be edited for publication). 3. You must include convener information in
order for the session to be considered. You must also include at least
one convener, preferably two, for each proposed session, with complete
contact information including affiliation, mailing address, phone, fax,
and e-mail. Each co-convener listed on a session proposal must have
agreed to participate as an organizer of the session. 4. At least one
4-digit index term must be provided for each proposed session.
Invitations to specific authors should not be extended until after a
session has been formally approved. An accepted session proposal is not
guaranteed to be an oral session.
Approved sessions will be published on the AGU Web site.
