Dear Dr. Reiners
I am currently a PhD student at the Laboratoire de
Géodynamique des Chaînes Alpines in Grenoble, France,
but I also work as an assistant at the Polytechnic
University of Tirana, Albania. The topic of my PhD
thesis is “Vertical evolution of the Albanides,
thermal control, erosion and tectonic denudation”. My
thesis advisors are Professor Georges Mascle in
Grenoble and Professor Artan Tashko in Tirana. During
my dissertation research I gained extensive experience
in apatite and zircon fission-track analysis, working
at the fission-track lab in Grenoble under the
supervision of Peter van der Beek and Matthias Bernet.
First results of this work have already been presented
at different meetings (e.g. FT2004 in Amsterdam) and I
am currently working on two manuscripts as well, one
of them has already been submitted to the Geological
Society of London Special Publications on (First
results of fission-track thermochronology in the
Albanides). To compliment my knowledge in
low-temperature thermochronology and in order to
complete my dissertation research I am very interested
in learning about (U-Th)/He analysis. Therefore, I
would like to take this opportunity and apply for the
Helium Dating Workshop at Yale University.
I hope very much that you will agree to supervise me
in this project and allow me to come to Yale.
Yours sincerely,
Bardhyl Muceku
