Dear All,
I had come across these parameters in connection with heat flow
mainly in building applications;
Definition:-
1) U-values: Overall coefficent of heat transmisson
2) V-values: Resistance to heat flow
Most of this info can be found on the web and they relate to
building materials such as roofing, fired bricks, partitons
etc with a purpose in implementing energy codes for buildings.
In connection with soils apparently a "high thermal mass"
compensates for low R values and are suitable for earth
structures built in warmer regions and lesser in colder
regions. I am unclear how these values can be applied for
a range of soils. Are there EN or other standards in use
and what sort of test methods available to determine this?
Best Regards,
Parminder Singh
