CALL FOR CONTRIBUTORS - £100 HONORARIUM
PRISM: Creating new connections between key works of some twentieth-century Anglo-European art movements across the performing and creative arts
PALATINE, the HE Academy Subject Centre for Dance, Drama and Music, has been awarded funds from JISC to create a learning website for staff and students. PRISM will allow its users to create re-usable learning objects that identify connections between the subject areas of art, architecture & design, dance, theatre production, music, film and literature in some of the influential Anglo-European art movements of the 'modern' period:
Abstraction
Bauhaus
Chance/Indeterminacy
Constructivism
Dada
Expressionism
Futurism
Minimalism
Naturalism
Pop
Realism
Serialism
Surrealism
Symbolism
PRISM will create a searchable and customisable user interface, which will provide lecturers and students with links to rights-cleared reproductions of and excerpts from exemplar works, productions and artefacts, grouped by movement (or 'ism'). The website will include a dedicated, password protected area (working title 'My Course Resource') allowing users to assemble and save thumbnails of and extracts from the works and pieces along with their own written material. It will also be possible to make saved combinations available to other users and publish new course material on the website.
Call for Contributors
PALATINE is seeking contributors for PRISM.
Contributors are expected to suggest c. 10 exemplar works - in one or more of the subject areas (art, architecture & design, dance, theatre production, music, film and literature) - that are available online, and to provide an accompanying short rationale explaining why the works chosen are useful and how they might be used in learning and teaching across the creative and performing arts. Where the work is not available on the web, relevant information e.g. ISBN & page no., CD no. and track should be provided.
Selected works for PRISM should have relevance and resonance both in and beyond their own discipline. Each work will need to demonstrate key elements of the art movement that are or could be relevant in at least one other subject discipline.
The deadline for submission of resources is 31 October 2005.
Those interested in becoming contributors are asked to contact Miriam Murtin [log in to unmask], Research Associate, PALATINE, Tel. +44 (0)1524 592969.
An honorarium of £100 is payable.
Further details about the project are available on the PRISM website: http://www.lancs.ac.uk/palatine/prism
