You can't even make the united states one unavailable, even if you're in a
country which doesn't speak English.

For "Courses" can we have "classes"

For "next" we can have "whar's the ither bit o this?"

As another non-English person, it gets to me too :-)
Locale editing comes in version 7.
I hope there will be a UK/Queen's English option, if not perhaps it is
something we should do as a community. Mind you given how many UK users
there are, we should really demand one.
I hope that we can then edit the UK locale to develop a Durham English.
This will allow us to use terms already familiar to our staff and
studenrs - e.g. replace terms such as "courses" with their Durham-speak
equivalent: "modules".
