I am looking to recruit a student for a
Leverhulme Trust-funded postgraduate studentship, starting in
September 05 (or earlier). The project follows on from the work
described in a J. Theor. Biol. paper that came out last year
("Dynamic polyhedral models of globular proteins", J. Theor. Biol.,
vol. 229, 197-208, 2004) and involves designing, building and testing
mechanical models of proteins about the size of a hand and that fold
spontaneously
The kind of student I am looking for is one who a) has displayed some
originality in design/practical work, b) is interested in
biology/biomimetics and c) is conscientious (a) and c) I'm sure
everyone would like)
It would particularly nice to recruit a mechanical engineer, as the
project involves a fair amount of design work. I am not particularly
looking for a very high flier, although that would be nice, just
someone who has demonstrated an imaginative spark
If you can think of anyone, would you mind drawing their attention to

Many thanks
