Hi Martin
I had exactly the same phenomenon with a Dudley light touch joystick
(query posted here on 13th Feb 04) connected to an Omni+. The chair
was reported spontaneously starting to drive, on at least 2 occasions.
Thankfully she was supervised, and like all our child, special controls
chairs, she had an emergency stop switch mounted on the back of the
chair. Tried a second, new joystick, but the same happened, and both
were subsequently tested and passed by Dudley. She soon moved on to a
proortional j/s after that anyway and we have had no more problems. If
you check the thread for my query, you will find some potentially useful
advice from the community, regarding the input connector (impoedance
etc). We never managed to crack the problem though, either in terms of
demonstrating (only ever managed to produce it once ourselves, (even
with great persistence!!) or eliminating it, and you have experienced it
through another input socket.
Are we really the only ones in teh UK to have had this problem?
regards
Jeremy
