Job Title: Head of Library & Archive
Status: Permanent
Employed By Tate
Location Millbank
Band: Leadership
Salary: c.£50,000 per annum
Job Description:
Tate Library & Archive is recognised as one of the UK’s leading document
centres for research in the arts, with particular strengths in the fields
of British art and international modern and contemporary art. The opening
of the Hyman Kreitman Research Centre at Tate Britain five years ago, and
the launch of the collections catalogues on-line, have positioned the
Library and the Archive to provide excellent access to the collection and

As the new Head of Department, you will provide vision, direction and
leadership to continue taking the Library & Archive forward. This will
involve managing the strategic development of the Library and Archive
collection and our service provision, devising and implementing policy,
while leading and inspiring your team. You will also represent the
department internally and externally, particularly within the information
community, providing a professional viewpoint and contributing to the
development of Tate-wide strategies.
It is essential that you bring a thorough professional understanding of
information management and running a library and archive service. This
specialist knowledge will be complemented by proven senior level
management skills including a successful record of change management. You
will also be adept at building networks and relationships and keen to act
as an advocate for progress.
