We had a request to the Archives Hub helpdesk on Friday from the owner of a
collection of film memorabilia. She wanted us to put a description of the
collection on the Archives Hub, or to advertise on our site that she is
wanting to find a home for it. As we are not able to do either of those
things, I said that I would send a message to this list, and that anyone
interested in offering the collection a home could then get in touch with
her. The potential donor/vendor (not clear which) is called Sandra Shevey
and her email address is mailto:[log in to unmask] She is based in
the UK.
Here is her own description of the collection.
---------------------------------------------
The collection is substantial: about 150 audio interviews from 2-10 hours in
duration with most of the megastars of the 1970s, some earlier and including
Alfred Hitchcock, John Lennon, Jon Voight, Dustin Hoffman, Liza Minnelli,
Shirley MacLaine, Jane Russell, Joan Blondell, Barbara Hershey, Richard
Harris, Peter Falk, Peter Fonda, Henry Winkler, Chevy Chase, et al.
Then there is an amazing stills archive from the 1950s with lots of
stills of Rita Hayworth, Janet Blair, Terry Moore, Ida Lupino, Robert Stack
and others before the star makeovers.
Also about 300 letters from famous people, many highly personalized
as these are not just autographs but acknowledgements of the contributions I
was making to cinema in my research in the roles of women and ethnicities.
Also lots of lst editions signed.
And many bits and pieces of memorabilia, esp about women in film as
I know Lupino, Dorothy Arzner, Lillian Sidney (have about 20 hours of tape
with this great MGM coach), Phyllis Seaton, Shirley Clarke, Verna Fields and
others.

Please email Ms Shevey if this is of interest.
Thanks,
Amanda
