Hi Vin
Guess we may be able to consider the issue of supply of level thresholds but
possibly the banning of upvc is beyond the scope of this list !
Another person on our programme did come up with a good solution that is
being marketed in Ireland, a company NEVKO has developed a threshold system
which operates on a magnetic strip, so that when the door is closed, the bar
on the threshold is raised to form a weatherproof barrier and when the door
is opened, the magnets drop to provide a level access threshold. This
company trades in the UK as Nevko Enterprises (UK) Ltd. Email is
[log in to unmask] and web address is www.nevko.com The threshold system can
be fitted to
wooden, Aluminium and UPVC doors at the commissioning stage, not routinely
to completed doors.
I also came across this site, I am not happy with their wording and sure
their marketing division could do with equality training, but does show that
they can produce low (not specified) thresholds on upvc doorsets

if pvc door frame manufacturers don't supply level thresholds (notwistanding
that pvc is one of the most noxious chemical mixes on the planet and i
personally hope there is a worldwide ban in place asap!) how do developers
aim to comply with lifetime homes requirements?
