Subject: Re: [PSCI-COM] Inspirational quotes from/for women in science
Dear Martha,
Hello, the Association of Medical Research Charities in the UK is about
to launch a 'women in science' section on our website, the introductory
page starts with a quote from our Chairman Dame Bridget Ogilvie - an
influential and accomplished scientist.
The pages won't have approval to go live for a couple of weeks yet but
you are welcome to use the following quote if it is of help to you.
''I have had more that four decades happily engaged in science, and what
a wonderful interesting, absorbing, if demanding career it is.''
---End Quoted (and cut) Message---
Can someone come up with something even less inspiring than this?
Just what youngsters need. "I have had more that four decades..."
I chip in only because to my mind this is likely to have the opposite effect
to that intended. Then again, I have had nearly four decades experience in
science communication and may be jaded beyond belief. (I always turn down
invitations to address young people about the delight of my career on the
grounds that I will put them off.)
