Abstract
The President of Operational Research Society, Prof Valerie Belton from
Strathclyde Business School, take the opportunity of this talk to
reflect on issues currently facing the OR community and to explore and
discuss ideas for addressing some of these - in particular how we
encourage reflection in OR, with a view to developing Reflective
Practitioners.
All are welcome to attend. Tea and biscuits will be served.
The talk will be followed by the AGM of the Midlands OR Society (MORS);
all OR Society members are very welcome to come to the AGM.
Short bio of speaker
Valerie Belton gained degrees in mathematics and OR from Durham and
Lancaster Universities respectively. She then took up a post with the
Civil Aviation Authority, before completing a Doctorate at Cambridge.
Prior to joining Strathclyde she held a lectureship in the OR Department
at the University of Kent.
She is well-known for her work on Multi-Criteria Decision-Making, was
President of the International Society for MCDM from 2000- 2004 and is
Editor of JMCDA. She is currently President of the UK Operational
Research Society (2004-2006).
