Subject: Intimate Partner Abuse, midwives and education
Hello all
I am a midwifery/nursing lecturer and clinician in Brisbane, Queensland
Australia who has been reading with interest many of this discussions on
the list. I have recently completed my PhD studying midwives and their
understanding of Intimate partner abuse ( aka domestic violence). I am
interested in collecting information and talking to midwives
internationally about both their clinical and educational experiences in
this area. Do midwives anywhere in the world receive formal/informal
training, what form does it take, how is it taught and what impact does
that education have on their clinical practice? I am really interested
in identifying and developing strategies that really make a difference
to the way midwives practice and not simply their knowledge of IPA.
I really look forward to talking with others interested in this are.
Cheers
