Dear Visual Media enthusiasts,
A new page on Prestidigitation, Conjuring & Magic in relation to
photography and pre-cinema is now online.
http://www.visual-media.be/prestidigitation.html
I would welcome any critique and ideas on this personal "Fads and Fancies"
subject.
The page has some interesting links, such as a web site offering an online
interactive glass-organ, an instrument with an eerie sound used during
Phantasmagoria shows.
Another link will bring you to the upcoming FIRST EUROPEAN CONFERENCE
"MAGIC, HISTORY & COLLECTIONS"
The subject is perhaps both "on & off topic" but most pleasant, I hope?
On the server of the Art Academy in Gent (Belgium) I started an
introduction web site, in Dutch, for the academy students.
I have dedicated this page both to Joseph Plateau, professor at the
University in Gent and Etienne-Gaspard Robertson, two Belgian Pre-Cinema
pioneers.

Forthcoming is a Dutch language terminology list of photography and
pre-cinema devices.
Purpose is to make the pre-history of (animation) film & photography better
known among students.
The latter web site will be different compared to Early Visual media and
could be interesting for other Dutch language visitors.
As many of you will know, Gent Art academy is famous for his course in
animation film.
Last year Jonas Geirnaert won the "Prix de jury - Court metrage" at the
film festival in Cannes with his final exam film Flatlife.

Best greetings,
Thomas
