INTERNET TOOLS FOR EFFECTIVE INFORMATION HANDLING - BEGINNERS *NEW*

This workshop will look at the problems of handling information (particularly new information and current awareness data) and how this can be managed effectively using freely available tools on the internet. Particular emphasis will be on weblogs and RSS feeds. As participants will need to register with various utilities they should have access to a web based email account such as Hotmail or Gmail if they are unable to access their usual work/home email accounts.
WHO WILL BENEFIT BY ATTENDING?
This workshop is aimed at those who have taken on responsibility for current awareness or selective dissemination services and/or those who need to promote their services.
BY THE END OF DAY PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:

* been introduced to RSS feeds
* explored practical methods to prevent duplication of output
