Supporting Diverse Users: HLG Study Day
25th November 2005
Austin Court, Birmingham
Many of us working in health libraries are now supporting users who do not
fit our usual user profile. They may have no previous experience of using
libraries; they may be patients, paramedics or social workers who have only
recently discovered they have access to our services; or health
professionals from overseas working in Britain for the first time.
We welcome this diversity, and more open access policies mean that greater
numbers of people benefit from our knowledge and services. But how do we
best cater for the needs of our expanding user base?
This study day is intended to be a celebration of initiatives put into
place by health librarians to support these users and an opportunity to
explore possibilities and share best practice.
Benefits of Attending
This study day is a great opportunity to explore how you can cater for the
needs of your diverse users. There will be a group work session in the
afternoon to allow delegates to put things into context and think about
implications for their particular information service.
