Hi All,
I first wrote in under the title 'Getting Political: Funding', about the funding for the integration of AT Technology within the NHS and I believe my comments (below) apply in this discussion:
'I foresee the need for PP partnership with the SMEs, as these companies can be commissioned to design, produce and maintain AT devices at relative prices for the high volume of demand that would be needed for the (Assistive) independent living. The SME profits from product knowledge/placement by clients and the Trusts and Loc Auth from cost-effective equipments.'
Within this scenario I envision that there will be a strong link between the NHS and SMEs, enough to enable direct advertising and introduction/presentation of new technologies to end-users ensure commercial exploitation of AT research/devices. Similarly, the up coming NAIDEX shows are the best place to showcase all technologies and a resultant, evaluating magazine can be produced and handled to all who register for the free show - therefore reaching target audiences.
In essence all that is needed is the support from the likes of us to collaborate and support each other to enable the commercial success/knowledge of new technologies.
