Tavis,
We had a look at MS CMS and weren't impressed at all. We also looked at
another product which based itself on MS CMS. During that demo it became
apparent that the product did not appear to scale to enterprise level
very well at all. 1 example is the inability to move entire sections
from one point to another.
In its defence, it became apparent when looking at the product based on
MS CMS that it could be VERY flexible if taken to bits and rebuilt by
someone with extensive MS knowledge.
I think there were also serious concerns about cross-browser
compatibility. i.e. it only worked on IE.
Regards,
Duncan

Subject: Has anyone used Microsoft SharePoint or Content Management
Server?
Hi Folk
Lots to think about after Friday's meeting. Hope the rest of you had a
good night out.
We (in Fife and Glenrothes Colleges) are thinking of implementing
Microsoft SharePoint (either the Windows Services or the full Portal
Server), possibly in conjunction with Microsoft Content Management
Server. This is probably seen as cost-effective due to our existing
campus licence agreement.
Does anyone have any experience/comments about these Microsoft products?
Our initial requirements would be document and news management, and
providing communication tools for staff apart from email.
