True, but isn't the point that there is no traditional anglicized form of
such places, whereas there is for Munich, Lubeck, Athens, Rome and so on? Of
course, such forms can drop out of favour. For instance, nobody now uses
"Ratisbon" as a form of Regensburg in Bavaria.

I hesitate to add to the mailstorm I seem to have started, but it's perhaps
worth noting that if we don't want to confuse
distinct places like Grünbach and Grunbach, we should not anglicise by
omitting umlauts.
