Ben,
Thanks for actioning this. In response to your queries, I reply
as follows:
Who to invite:
I think the same range of people as at the Lancaster event,
which I thought was an interesting mix. I wonder whether it
may be useful to invite Philip Darnton, the chair of the NCS
and a marketing man by background. He is very interested in
the cultural issues in connection with how to market cycling.
styles of presentation:
I think what happened in Lancaster was good again, with a
useful balance of low key presentations. I think we should
keep a balance between qualitative and quantitative work, that
dialectical tension (OK I'm trying to use big words, are they
appropriate?) is a useful dynamic in any organisation for
creative energy.
scale of the event:
I like the two days where there is a larger and a smaller
audience. Maybe those on the first day felt a little left out on
the second day though. I know the reasons for the lack of
structure of the second day at Lancaster. A more structured
second day at Cardiff might allow us to travel further, as it
were.
ask for a small conference fee and supply lunch, drinks, crack
cocaine or whatever:
Yep, keep it cheap. Not entirely sure about the crack cocaine,
but am looking forward to the Brains.
