Not really. It's still ./configure; make; make install; make dist, but
any components which are listed in a <configure> element within a
component's <dependencies> element have to be built and installed
before you ./configure the component.
In the case of the `make world', this is done in the `make
configure-deps' step before the main ./configure.
In your per-component build, do you configure each component
separately, immediately before it's built? If so, then you simply need
to add the configure-dependencies to the list of dependencies for a
component. If not, and you configure everything at once, then you'll
have to figure out a way of getting all the configure dependencies
built and installed before the global configure. These configure
dependencies are indeed a pest...
