If anyone - say, for example, at a learning point - wanted a book which
would give them an excellent start in local history, I do not think they
could do better than Kate Tiller's "English Local History: an
Introduction", Alan Sutton Publishing, 1992, new edition 2001. All but the
most expert will find in it an interesting background to most aspects of
local history and useful instruction on how to investigate further.
