Graduate Student Fellowships in Marine Policy
Graduate College of Marine Studies
University of Delaware
Fall 2005
The Marine Policy Program in the Graduate College of Marine Studies at the
University of Delaware is offering two, perhaps more, graduate student
fellowships beginning the fall of 2005.
The fellowships cover tuition and pay an annual stipend of approximately
$20,000. The fellowships are awarded based on academic record, GRE’s, and
demonstrated interest in the program. Students seeking either a Masters or
a PhD in Marine Policy are eligible.
Students of Marine Policy examine the economic, legal, political, and social
aspects of ocean and coastal resources. Areas of special interest include
law of the sea, ports and shipping, marine minerals, ocean and coastal zone
management, fisheries, offshore wind-power, naval affairs, marine
biotechnology, and the coastal and ocean environment.
The curriculum covers analytical tools and methods in policy analysis, a
broad understanding of the institutions and laws that govern ocean and
coastal resources, and exposure to local, national, and international
institutions where marine policies are formulated. For more on program visit
our web site at http://www.ocean.udel.edu/graduate/marpol/marpol.html.
Graduates from the program work at all levels of government, in
non-governmental organizations, in shipping and port agencies, and in
universities.
To apply for a fellowship submit an application for admission to the Masters
of Marine Policy or the PhD in Marine Policy and declare an interest in
being considered for a policy fellowship. The applications are due March 1,
2005. The applications materials are available at
http://www.ocean.udel.edu/graduate/admissions.html.
