Royal Holloway-British Library Lectures in Musicology
MUSIC IN THE MAKING OF EUROPE 1000-1300
a series of five public lectures from December 2004 to May 2005, given by
CHRISTOPHER PAGE
sponsored by the Department of Music, Royal Holloway, University of London
supported by the British Library
All lectures take place on Tuesdays from 6 pm to 7 pm at the British
Library Conference Centre.
Admission is free, without ticket.
14 December: A prelude: the rise of Gregorian chant

CHRISTOPHER PAGE is founder and director of the ensemble Gothic Voices.
Much in demand as a lecturer at home and abroad, from 1981 to 1985 he was
Lecturer in Old and Middle English at New College, Oxford, and is now
University Lecturer in Middle English Literature at the University of
Cambridge where he is a Fellow of Sidney Sussex College. Dr Page is
Chairman of the National Early Music Association, and of The Plainsong and
Medieval Music Society. He is also co-editor of the journal Plainsong and
Medieval Music, published by Cambridge University Press.

The British Library is situated at 96 Euston Road, St Pancras, London NW1,
next to St Pancras railway station and within walking distance of King's
Cross and Euston railway stations. King's Cross St Pancras, Euston and
Euston Square are the nearest underground stations. Bus routes 10, 30, 73
and 91 pass the building. There are no car parking facilities for the
public on site, except for users with disabilities. There is a covered
area for bicycles. The nearest car parks are in Marchmont Street under the
Brunswick Shopping Centre and Euro Car Parks at St Pancras station.
