CALL FOR PAPERS
ACREW 2005 CONFERENCE
Theme: Shifting the Boundaries of Employment and Work
Melbourne, Australia, 24-25 June 2005.
The Australian Centre for Research in Employment and Work (ACREW) is
inviting scholars and practitioners to submit papers, symposia and posters
for presentation at the Inaugural Conference on Employment and Work, to be
held in Melbourne, Australia, 24-25 June 2005.
The conference will address a range of critically important themes
relating to human resource management, industrial and employee relations,
organizational behaviour, and general management.
Papers are welcomed in all areas of employment and work including, but not
limited to, the following research topics:
- Working conditions & health
- Workforce mobility
- Emotional labour
- Work / life balance
- Under & over employment
- Age & work
- Monitoring & surveillance
- Human resource management & corporate governance
- Ethics and human resource management
- Positive approaches to work
- New organisational forms
- Personal & organisational effectiveness
- Technology & work
- Re-regulating the labour market
- Diverse workforces
- Measuring human resource effectiveness
- Managing knowledge workers
- Trust & engagement
- Revisiting rewards
- The new deal for employee relations
Conference Submissions
Refereed paper presentations: Papers of 20 pages in length, presenting
original research, are welcome on any of the conference topics.
Symposia: We welcome symposia submissions of 4-5 thematically-connected
papers, each 5 pages in length, on any of the conference topics to be
presented within a 1.5-2 hour session.
Poster presentations: Authors are welcome to submit abstracts of 500
words, for visual presentations.
All submissions for refereed papers will be double blind peer reviewed and
published in the conference proceedings CD.

A Pre-Conference Research Student Workshop will be held on Thursday 23
June, 2005, at Monash University Caulfield campus. This workshop is free
of charge but registration by 1 April 2005 is required. For details, visit

The conference venue is the Sheraton Southgate Hotel, located in the
entertainment and business centre of Melbourne, Australia. Accommodation
at a favourable rate will be available at the Sheraton Southgate Hotel.
